A good friend of mine, who I consider to be quite the chic fashionista, adores the color purple. She asked if I could make a cowl and I immediately went on the hunt for a rich purple with sparkles to add bling. It’s so wonderfully gratifying when you can match a project so perfectly to someone’s personality. Caron Simply Soft Party is an affordable, machine washable worsted weight yarn which knits up easily and has the sparkles woven in. It is surprisingly soft for an acrylic and not at all itchy or scratchy on the neck. I added yarn overs in alternating, somewhat random, rows to give it that pretty lace-y look. The combination of knit rows versus purl rows breaks up the monotony and adds texture. I loved this so much, I’ll be making more sparkly cowls in the coming weeks (and will probably have to keep several for myself). I can’t wait to see my friend sporting her favorite color this fall.
